Job Purpose

This includes maternal health, family planning, gender, and adolescent and youth empowerment. The position actively promotes UNFPA's mandate at the national level, advocating for the integration of sexual and reproductive health and rights into the national development agenda, and delivering effective programmes, including in emergency settings, to achieve high-quality results.
Responsibilities
The Deputy Representative provides leadership in programme development, management, and monitoring, ensuring alignment with strategic plans and national policies. This includes expanding UNFPA's portfolio, establishing quality standards, and overseeing rigorous monitoring and evaluation. A key responsibility is national capacity development, involving strategy implementation, technical assistance, and promoting the use of demographic data for evidence-based policymaking. The role also focuses on strengthening health systems for universal healthcare access and developing capacities for rights-based policies and laws. Furthermore, the Deputy Representative builds and maintains partnerships with government, UN agencies, donors, and civil society, advocating for UNFPA's mandate and pursuing resource mobilization opportunities. Management of resources involves supporting the Country Representative in office operations, staff management, and fostering a culture of performance and development, while also ensuring compliance with security standards.
Work Experience
Requires 10 years of progressive professional experience in public administration and international development, including programme design, appraisal, and management. At least 8 years must be in population and development, sexual and reproductive health, or humanitarian work at the international level. Experience in advocacy, policy dialogue, leading teams, and field experience in developing or humanitarian contexts is essential.
