Organizational Context
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is the UN's sexual and reproductive health agency, dedicated to delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. This consultancy role is based in the Libya Country Office, supporting UNFPA's mandate in promoting gender equality and empowering women, girls, and young people.
Job Purpose
The National Partnerships Consultant will play a crucial role in strengthening UNFPA's engagement with national stakeholders in Libya. The purpose of this role is to build and maintain strategic alliances and partnerships with government institutions, private sector actors, and development partners. By leveraging these relationships, the consultant will advance UNFPA's policy agenda, mobilize resources, and ensure the effective delivery of results-based programs. This position contributes directly to achieving UNFPA's mission by fostering an environment conducive to the advancement of sexual and reproductive health and rights, and the fulfillment of young people's potential.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for identifying and cultivating strategic partnerships with key national government institutions, private sector entities, and development partners in Libya. This includes developing and implementing strategies to engage these stakeholders effectively, fostering collaboration, and building alliances to support UNFPA's programmatic objectives. The role involves advocating for UNFPA's policy agenda and mobilizing resources to enhance program delivery. The consultant will also be tasked with facilitating internal and external communication to promote results and ensure alignment with UNFPA's mandate. Experience in program implementation and stakeholder engagement is essential for success in this role.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of experience in public sector, programme implementation, or stakeholder engagement. Experience engaging government institutions and/or private-sector actors is required. Experience with donors and development partners is an advantage. Previous experience within the UN system or an international organization is an asset.
Skills
Strong analytical, negotiation, communication, and diplomacy skills. Proficiency in current office software applications, corporate IT systems, and web-based management systems. Core competencies include achieving results, accountability, professional expertise, strategic thinking, and teamwork. Functional competencies involve advocacy, advancing policy agendas, building strategic alliances, and delivering results-based programs.
