Job Purpose
The Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) Project Coordinator will oversee the daily implementation of WGSS activities in a supervisory and coordinating capacity. This role ensures that safe spaces operate according to a survivor-centered approach and humanitarian principles, maintaining accountability to affected populations. The coordinator will lead coordination efforts, manage field staff, report on progress, and support planning and monitoring of WGSS activities, working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Responsibilities
The Project Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS), providing administrative and operational support to field teams to ensure effective implementation aligned with work plans and UNFPA standards. This includes supporting the Ministry of Youth and Sports with administrative tasks and contributing to transition planning by identifying potential partnerships. The role involves managing the monitoring and reporting cycle, collecting and validating data, and tracking progress against work plans, ensuring compliance with SOPs and ethical data management. Quality assurance is critical, ensuring all WGSS activities adhere to UNFPA programming standards and GBV guiding principles, utilizing monitoring tools and feedback mechanisms. The coordinator will also provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to the WGSS field team, monitor performance, identify capacity-building needs, and promote team wellness. Additionally, the role supports communication efforts, contributes to interagency meetings, and conducts service mapping to improve referral systems.
Work Experience
Minimum of three years of professional experience in refugee protection, with a focus on GBV and reproductive health, and project management. Experience in designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating humanitarian/development projects is required. Experience working with government partners and in field-based GBV prevention/response in emergency contexts is highly desirable. Knowledge of refugee protection, humanitarian action, and safeguarding principles is essential.
