Job Purpose
The National Programme Analyst (NO-A) provides crucial technical, programmatic, and operational support for UNFPA's Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH), Rights, and Gender initiatives in El Salvador. The role is instrumental in driving national priorities such as preventing adolescent pregnancy, promoting comprehensive sexuality education, and enhancing family planning and perinatal maternal health services. The Analyst contributes to the "Llegar a Cero" territorial model and supports advocacy, policy dialogue, and evidence-based interventions, ensuring all SRH activities are inclusive, rights-based, and aligned with international frameworks like ICPD and UNFPA's Strategic Plan.
Responsibilities
The role involves providing programmatic support and policy assistance, including drafting technical inputs and policy briefs for government dialogue, and supporting the review of national strategies on maternal health and family planning. Technical assistance and capacity building are key, focusing on implementing SRH programs, supporting territorial models against adolescent pregnancy, organizing training for health providers, and monitoring SRH commodities. Knowledge management and evidence generation include collating SRH data, utilizing demographic analysis, and contributing to knowledge products. Communication, partnership, and coordination involve participating in working groups, supporting resource mobilization, and collaborating with UN agencies and partners. The role also includes humanitarian preparedness and response support, particularly for the Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP), and project monitoring and financial administration, including field visits and reviewing partner reports.
Work Experience
Requires professional experience at the national level in program management, public health, or sexual and reproductive health. Experience in project implementation, data collection, and M&E frameworks is essential. Familiarity with El Salvador's health system, working with vulnerable populations, and understanding human rights-based approaches are important. Proficiency in MS Office is needed. Prior UN system or international NGO experience is an asset.
