National Programme Support Consultant
Organizational Context
UNFPA is the lead United Nations agency dedicated to ensuring every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. This role supports the UNFPA Country Programme, focusing on critical outcomes related to family planning, maternal health, gender-based violence, and demographic adaptation.
Job Purpose
The National Programme Support Consultant's primary purpose is to provide comprehensive administrative and programmatic support to facilitate the development and implementation of the UNFPA Country Programme in South Sudan. Under the guidance of the SRHR Specialist, this role is crucial for enhancing the delivery of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) activities by ensuring effective administrative, programmatic, and financial support, alongside strict adherence to procedural compliance. The consultancy contributes directly to the achievement of UNFPA's mandate and strategic objectives within the country.
Responsibilities
The consultant will provide high-level administrative and programmatic support to Country Office personnel, coordinating logistical arrangements and travel authorizations for staff, consultants, and partners. Responsibilities include maintaining a robust filing and archiving system for all programmes and projects to ensure data integrity and facilitating security-related clearances for missions. Programmatic support involves monitoring implementation processes, ensuring adherence to deadlines and quality standards, summarizing technical information, and drafting contributions for reports. The role also supports financial management by tracking expenditures and processing payments. Furthermore, the consultant will organize meetings, workshops, and conferences, draft formal correspondence, serve as secretary for internal committees, and liaise with partners and stakeholders on programmatic and administrative matters.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of previous relevant experience is required. Previous experience within the UN system is a distinct advantage. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, high computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and familiarity with ERP systems like Atlas/PeopleSoft are essential. Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team, are also necessary.
