Job Purpose
The Resource Mobilization and Partnerships Specialist plays a vital role in supporting UNFPA's Afghanistan humanitarian response by mobilizing resources to meet the health and protection needs of women and girls. The position involves establishing and maintaining effective relationships with partners and donors, coordinating donor reporting, and preparing proposals, presentations, and other communications materials. A key aspect is leading the capacity development of the team in result-based reporting and analytical writing, which are fundamental to the Country Office's partnership management, advocacy, and resource mobilization efforts.
Responsibilities
The role is responsible for mobilizing resources to achieve funding targets for UNFPA's Afghanistan Appeal and Country Programme, and leading the analysis of opportunities for resource mobilization for the humanitarian response. This includes developing and implementing a donor intelligence strategy, creating specific fund-raising strategies, and leading the process of developing high-quality proposals and concept notes. The specialist will maintain a tracking system for donor funds and ensure timely and accurate donor reporting. In partnerships, the role involves coordinating donor updates, organizing briefings, liaising with donors and UNFPA regional/HQ offices, and preparing analytical briefs on progress and gaps. The position also contributes to communications materials for visibility of donor-funded activities and conducts training for Country Office staff on resource mobilization and partnerships.
Work Experience
Requires at least 5 years of professional experience in resource mobilization and partnerships. Experience in planning, reporting, and resource mobilization, with knowledge of the UN System and UNFPA procedures, is preferred. A proven track record of preparing high-quality donor proposals and reports, strong analytical ability, and experience representing an organization are essential. Excellent writing, oral communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills are necessary. Prior experience in challenging humanitarian responses is desirable.
