Job Purpose

The Programme Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the country programme, contributing directly to UNFPA's mandate of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals related to population and development.
Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant participates in budget preparation and follows up on implementation with partners, reporting deviations to programme analysts. They assist in preparing and following up on recommendations from technical missions and audits, and revise FACE forms with partners. The role involves programmatic and financial monitoring visits to implementing partners, supporting the monitoring of plan delivery and reports, and strengthening partner capacities in procedures and accountability. Responsibilities include coordinating travel, issuing contracts and agreements, managing programme officers' agendas, and handling correspondence. The assistant ensures proper filing of hard copy and electronic documents, provides logistical support for events, and assists with procurement processes. They generate financial and implementation reports, update quarterly financial planning, and manage data in UNFPA applications. The role also involves participating in year-end closure and acting as a backup for colleagues.
Work Experience
Required experience includes project development skills, basic accounting knowledge, and proficiency in computer software (word, excel, power point, internet, ERP). Demonstrated experience in organizing meetings and workshops is essential. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and good written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
