The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Asia-Pacific Regional Office (APRO) in Bangkok seeks an intern to support its communications team. The intern will work under the supervision of the Communications Specialist and the Regional Communications Adviser. Job Purpose
The intern will support the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office (APRO) communications team in coordinating regional campaigns, creating and editing web content, engaging with digital audiences, and tracking analytics. This role involves assisting with content planning, event coordination, and providing logistical and administrative communications support. The internship aims to enhance the intern's skills and capacity in areas related to UNFPA’s mandate, offering insights into programme design, delivery, and communications at regional and country levels, as well as partnership-building and international development.
Responsibilities
The intern will support the daily coordination of UNFPA APRO’s social media platforms, including content preparation, scheduling, and monitoring. Responsibilities include assisting in drafting and editing communication materials such as stories, web features, and social media posts, and supporting the coordination of communications campaigns. The role involves providing logistical and administrative communications support for activities in Thailand and assisting in copy editing blogs and articles to maintain high editorial standards. The intern will also collect content information from country offices, monitor digital performance across platforms, produce monthly analytics reports, and provide additional communications support including research and event coordination.
Work Experience
Some experience, including volunteer work, with the UN, development agencies, NGOs, or community initiatives is required. Familiarity with social media management and digital communications tools is also necessary.
Skills
Strong analytical, research, and writing skills are essential. The role requires initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively across cultures. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is necessary. Adaptability to new environments and the ability to establish good working relations with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds are important.
