Individual Consultant Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) Consultant
Organizational Context
UNFPA is the lead UN agency dedicated to a world where every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. This role supports the UNFPA Strategic Plan for 2026-2029, focusing on accelerating the ICPD Programme of Action and achieving the SDGs. The consultant reports to the SRHR & Health Systems Specialist, with overall guidance from the Deputy Representative and technical input from the GC8 RSSH writing team.
Job Purpose
The consultant will provide targeted technical assistance to leverage Primary Health Care (PHC) platforms, specifically Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) services, for the integration of HIV, TB, and Malaria (HTM) services. This support is crucial for the Funding Request Core and Writing teams, program leads, and other technical experts in developing a high-quality, evidence-based GC 8 Funding Application. The role contributes to strengthening health systems and expanding service delivery to meet critical health needs within Kenya.
Responsibilities
The consultant will collaborate with the RSSH writing team and the GC8 lead consultant, focusing on interventions such as quality of care, a human rights approach to HTM services, and integrated service delivery. Key duties include designing integrated service packages that utilize RMNCAH platforms to expand HTM services, supporting the integration of interventions addressing gender-related barriers and violence against women and girls, and leading the drafting of application components related to quality improvement, capacity building, regulatory frameworks for integrated care, supportive supervision, and addressing human rights barriers. The consultant will also ensure community health systems strengthening promotes sustainable access and linkages, and collaborate on approaches for "last-mile" delivery of health commodities, with a focus on adolescent girls and young women.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of experience with deep familiarity with the Kenyan health system. Demonstrated experience in SRHR/RMNCAH, HIV, TB, and malaria programming and service delivery. Strong expertise in health systems strengthening (HSS) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) interventions in Kenya. Proven ability in proposal writing, program design, and coordinating diverse teams.
