This consultancy operates under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Programme Analyst, PD.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to conduct a National Climate Impact Analysis on Reproductive Health in Türkiye. This analysis will assess the direct effects of climate change on key reproductive health indicators, including fertility and maternal health. The consultancy aims to provide evidence-based policy and programmatic recommendations to inform effective interventions, strengthen institutional responses, and support strategic decision-making in addressing the intersection of climate change and reproductive health.
Responsibilities
The consultant will conduct a National Climate Impact Analysis on Reproductive Health in Türkiye, examining the direct effects of climate change on fertility and maternal health indicators. Utilizing a quantitative approach with advanced statistical modeling, the study will analyze secondary data from TURKSTAT and the Ministry of Health, exploring relationships between adverse climate events and reproductive health outcomes over approximately ten years. The analysis will focus on variables such as total fertility rate, infertility indicators, stillbirth, preterm birth, and abortion rates, considering independent variables like temperature, extreme heat, humidity, and socioeconomic factors. A regression analysis will be the baseline, with advanced methods and GIS-based spatial analysis being preferable. The consultant will identify, access, and manage all necessary data, and based on the findings, develop evidence-based policy and programmatic recommendations.
Work Experience
Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant academic and research experience in public health, demography, social policy, economics, or environmental policy. Experience in quantitative analysis related to health policy, demography, economics, or environmental policy is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications is necessary. Previous experience with the UN or similar assignments is an asset.
