Job Purpose
The Programme Associate plays an instrumental role in facilitating UNFPA’s country programme and project implementation, focusing on population and development, reproductive health, and gender. This position supports the design, planning, and management of initiatives aimed at advancing UNFPA’s transformative results: ending maternal deaths, ending unmet need for family planning, and ending gender-based violence. The role involves applying established systems and procedures, and contributing to knowledge creation through compiling, synthesizing, and analyzing relevant information, ensuring compliance with organizational procedures.
Responsibilities
The Programme Associate participates in country programme and project formulation by compiling and analyzing information, drafting project documents, and preparing statistical data. They support project and programme evaluations, conduct field visits, and prepare progress reports. The role involves guiding the routine implementation of assigned projects in coordination with national counterparts, ensuring delivery of project inputs and participation in training. Logistical support for programme activities, including meetings and workshops, is provided, along with training for project personnel on national execution procedures. Additionally, the associate supports advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by maintaining donor contacts and assisting with events, and contributes to knowledge management by capturing and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
Work Experience
A minimum of six years of relevant experience in programme/project management and administration is required. Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems is necessary. Previous experience within the UN system is advantageous. Strong interpersonal, organizational, writing, and communication skills are essential.
