Organizational Context

The driver provides reliable and safe driving services to the Country Representative and other senior UN officials and visitors. The role reports to the Administrative and Finance Assistant. UNFPA is the UN agency dedicated to achieving a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled, working to ensure sexual and reproductive health for all.

Job Purpose

To provide reliable and safe driving services while maintaining the highest level of discretion and integrity. The driver will demonstrate a high sense of responsibility and excellent knowledge of protocol and security matters. The role requires a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds, ensuring safe and efficient transportation for UNFPA personnel and visitors.

Responsibilities

The driver is responsible for providing reliable and safe driving services, including transporting senior officials and visitors, and delivering and collecting mail and documents. This includes airport pick-ups for official personnel and visitors, assisting with visa and customs formalities as needed. The role ensures cost savings through appropriate vehicle use, maintaining daily vehicle logs, and preparing for maintenance. Daily vehicle upkeep, including minor repairs, oil changes, tire and brake checks, and washing, is essential. The driver must ensure all required documents, such as vehicle insurance and office directories, are available, along with necessary tools and safety equipment, adhering to Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS). In case of accidents, immediate actions as per regulations must be taken.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of relevant work experience as a driver, preferably within international organizations, embassies, or the UN System, with a safe driving record. A valid driver's license and knowledge of defensive driving techniques, local road conditions, and traffic regulations are essential.
