Organizational Context
UNFPA is the lead United Nations agency focused on sexual and reproductive health, gender equality, and empowering young people. This role sits within the UNFPA Country Office in Myanmar, reporting to the Coordination Specialist, GBV & MHPSS. The organization's mandate is to accelerate the ICPD Programme of Action and achieve the SDGs by 2030, addressing critical areas like family planning, maternal health, gender-based violence, and demographic change.
Job Purpose
This consultancy aims to strengthen the integration and delivery of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) interventions across UNFPA's implementing partners and sub-grantees in Myanmar. Given the ongoing crisis and its impact on mental well-being, the role is crucial for enhancing MHPSS programming. The consultant will provide technical assistance, training, support evidence generation, and contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of MHPSS initiatives. By improving the quality of MHPSS services, particularly within Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) services, this role directly contributes to UNFPA Myanmar's efforts to promote mental health and ensure vulnerable individuals receive safe and dignified support.

The role involves promoting international standards, including IASC Guidelines, and compiling monitoring and reporting inputs. Maintaining networks with MHPSS stakeholders and supporting community-based interventions are also key. Capacity building of implementing partners and sub-grantees includes conducting needs assessments, facilitating training on Psychological First Aid and Psychosocial Support, and providing supervision to frontline workers. Additionally, the consultant may provide direct MHPSS support to UNFPA staff and their families as needed, and deliver other outputs based on emerging needs.
Work Experience
Requires at least 2 years of experience in community-based psychosocial support, humanitarian response, and training/coaching. Demonstrated knowledge and experience using IASC Guidelines on MHPSS in Emergency Settings is essential. Experience with the UN system in Myanmar and strong training, coaching, mentoring, and supervision skills are preferred.
Skills
Core competencies include integrity, commitment, cultural diversity, change embracing, results achievement, accountability, professional expertise, analytical and strategic thinking, and teamwork. Functional skills involve the ability to work flexibly in a team, manage stressful workloads, and possess strong interpersonal skills for diverse socio-cultural environments.
