Organizational Context
UNFPA in Sudan leads the Gender-Based Violence Area of Responsibility (GBV AoR) under the Protection Cluster. This role supports the GBV AoR in establishing and maintaining a robust, safe, and ethical information management system for GBV response. The incumbent will work in an inter-agency capacity to ensure data management aligns with global guidance and supports evidence-based coordination and response efforts.
Job Purpose
The Gender-Based Violence Information Management Officer (IMO) is responsible for leading the systematic, safe, and ethical collection, collation, storage, processing, verification, analysis, and dissemination of data related to GBV and its sectoral response. This role is crucial for enabling evidence-based and quality GBV coordination and response in Sudan. The IMO will provide technical guidance, mentoring, and coaching to strengthen national GBV Information Management capacity, utilizing key inter-agency guidelines and handbooks to enhance the information management system. The position contributes to UNFPA's mandate of ending gender-based violence and harmful practices.
Responsibilities
The GBV IM Officer, under the GBV AoR Coordinator, provides technical support for collecting, using, storing, and sharing GBV information in line with standards. This includes developing/updating the IM strategy, mapping GBV actors and service providers, and analyzing service delivery gaps. The role involves managing information flows, supporting GBVIMS rollout, and maintaining systems for information exchange. The officer represents the GBV AoR in relevant working groups and clusters, ensuring adherence to GBV guiding principles in data management. Capacity building of national GBV AoR members is a key function, involving training and support on data management. The role also supports needs analysis, strategic decision-making, and response planning by integrating GBV indicators into assessments and analyzing data to identify needs and set targets. Furthermore, the officer is responsible for response monitoring, reporting, and developing information management products like dashboards and maps to visualize response coverage and gaps.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in Information Management, analysis, and needs assessments. Requires demonstrable experience in Gender-Based Violence Information Management linked to Sub-Sector coordination. In-depth understanding of global tools and guidance on GBV Information Management, including HNO/HRP and inter-agency IM work streams. Proficiency in quantitative and qualitative analysis, visualization methods, and software for producing IM products. Demonstrated skills in communication, training, and mentoring on GBV IM standards.
