Job Purpose
The National Advocacy Analyst will support UNFPA's advocacy efforts in Nigeria. This role is crucial for advancing the organization's mandate by developing and implementing strategies to influence policy and public opinion on sexual and reproductive health, population dynamics, and gender equality. The analyst will contribute to creating an enabling environment for UNFPA's programs to thrive, ensuring that key issues are effectively communicated to stakeholders and the public, thereby driving positive change and achieving desired development outcomes in line with national priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
Responsibilities
The National Advocacy Analyst will be responsible for developing and implementing national advocacy strategies aligned with UNFPA's mandate and country-specific objectives. This includes conducting research and analysis to identify key advocacy issues and opportunities, and engaging with government officials, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to build partnerships and support for UNFPA's agenda. The role involves drafting advocacy materials, policy briefs, and communication content to raise awareness and influence decision-making. Furthermore, the analyst will monitor the advocacy landscape, track progress, and provide regular reports on advocacy activities and their impact, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration with internal and external partners to maximize the reach and effectiveness of advocacy efforts.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in advocacy, public policy, communications, or program support, preferably within the UN system or a related international organization. Experience in Nigeria or a similar context is desirable.
Skills
Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a proven capacity to engage diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in developing and implementing advocacy strategies. Knowledge of the UN system and UNFPA's mandate. Ability to work effectively in a team and manage relationships.
