Job Purpose
The Sexual & Reproductive Health Specialist provides crucial technical and programmatic leadership for adolescent prevention projects. This role ensures that capacity building, advocacy, and policy dialogue initiatives align with UNFPA's policies, programmes, and current advancements in sexual and reproductive health. The incumbent is primarily responsible for coordinating technical assistance and programmatic support, guided by the SRH Technical Advisor, to advance the ICPD Programme of Action and contribute to UNFPA's transformative results.
Responsibilities
This role involves providing technical and project management support for project implementation, including partner engagement and roadmap development. Key duties include establishing monitoring frameworks, facilitating progress reviews, and guiding reporting mechanisms to track outcomes. The specialist will lead the establishment of an adolescent girls mentorship program, support partners in developing work plans, and build capacity in comprehensive sexuality education. Technical support will be provided to Ministries of Health to enhance adolescent-friendly health services and improve the forecasting, procurement, and distribution of SRH commodities. The role also includes capacity building for healthcare providers on rights-based family planning, supporting advocacy and policy dialogue, ensuring synergies with regional initiatives, preparing donor reports, and contributing to evidence generation and innovation.
Work Experience
Requires at least five years of professional experience in programme planning, management, monitoring, and evaluation in sexual and reproductive health at national and international levels. Experience in reproductive health commodity security, supply chain strengthening, and youth development programming is essential. Experience in the Caribbean sub-region is an asset.
Skills
Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to propose solutions and improvements. Demonstrated leadership, facilitation, and teamwork skills are essential. Proficiency in client orientation, organizational awareness, and job knowledge/technical expertise is required.
