Job Purpose

The Temporary Driver provides essential, reliable, and safe transportation services for the UNFPA Country Representative and office staff in El Salvador. This role is crucial for ensuring timely and secure attendance at meetings and activities, maintaining the operational efficiency of the office. By expertly navigating local routes and conditions, and ensuring the vehicle's optimal performance, the driver directly supports the UNFPA's mandate to deliver vital reproductive health services and promote the well-being of women, girls, and young people.

Responsibilities

The Temporary Driver is responsible for operating official vehicles to provide secure and reliable transportation for the UNFPA Country Representative and staff. This includes monitoring traffic, road, and safety conditions to ensure punctual arrivals. The role also encompasses comprehensive vehicle maintenance, including performing minor repairs and ensuring cleanliness. Daily mileage logs are maintained, and necessary maintenance services are coordinated. The driver manages fuel vouchers, handles the delivery and collection of correspondence and documents, and provides airport reception for official personnel and visitors, all while upholding the highest standards of discretion and integrity.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of experience as a driver, preferably with international organizations, NGOs, embassies, or diplomatic entities. Additional training in logistics or transport is desirable. Experience within the UN System is an advantage.

Skills

Proficiency in safe driving practices and knowledge of local traffic laws and routes. Ability to use electronic traffic tools (e.g., Waze, Google Maps). Basic vehicle repair skills are beneficial. Familiarity with Office Suite and Google Suite is a plus. Fluency in Spanish is essential; English proficiency is an advantage.
