UNFPA
National Consultant for the Revision of Out-of-School Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) Delivery Manual
Organizational Context
UNFPA, the United Nations sexual and reproductive health agency, is dedicated to delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled. This consultancy is based in Liberia, a country with a significant youth population facing challenges in accessing sexual reproductive health services and education.
Job Purpose
The primary objective of this consultancy is to revise, adapt, and simplify the existing Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) Facilitator’s Manual for out-of-school children and young people. The goal is to ensure the manual is accessible, age-appropriate, culturally sensitive, and highly effective, particularly for individuals with limited or no literacy skills. This involves developing participatory, interactive, and visually driven learning modules to empower young people with essential knowledge and skills for making informed decisions about their sexuality and relationships.
Responsibilities
The National Consultant will review and adapt the current CSE manual for low-literacy learners, developing and integrating visual aids, storytelling, games, and role-playing scenarios. Clear, jargon-free instructions for facilitators will be drafted, focusing on managing sensitive topics and assessing understanding without written tests. The content will specifically address the vulnerabilities of out-of-school youth, including gender-based violence, early marriage, and access to reproductive health services. The consultant will also co-facilitate a validation workshop with stakeholders to incorporate feedback into the draft manual.
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in developing curricula, training manuals, or educational materials. Demonstrated expertise in CSE and SRHR, with proven experience designing programs for out-of-school youth or individuals with low literacy skills. Experience applying participatory methodologies and developing visual/interactive learning aids is required.
Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Ability to translate complex concepts into simple, accessible, and culturally sensitive language. Expertise in Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), and youth empowerment. Proficiency in participatory methodologies and developing visual/interactive learning aids.
