UNFPA Programme Analyst on Youth
Organizational Context
The Programme Analyst on Youth reports to the UNFPA Assistant Representative within the Country Office. UNFPA is the lead UN agency dedicated to fulfilling every pregnancy intended, every childbirth safe, and every young person’s potential realized. The role supports the UNFPA mandate to accelerate ICPD Programme of Action and SDGs by focusing on youth development, contributing to a world where fundamental human rights are protected and upheld.
Job Purpose
The Programme Analyst on Youth supports the effective management of UNFPA's adolescent and youth development activities within the Country Office. By analyzing political, social, and economic trends, the role contributes to project formulation, evaluation, and joint programming initiatives, aligning with national development frameworks. The position also involves monitoring implementation results, ensuring the appropriate application of systems and procedures, and identifying areas for enhancement to maximize the impact of UNFPA's youth-focused programs and contribute to achieving key development outcomes.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the design and implementation of country programmes and projects in collaboration with government counterparts, NGOs, and other partners, ensuring alignment with government priorities and UNFPA policies. Establish and implement appropriate monitoring and oversight mechanisms. Analyze the political, social, and economic environment to identify opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention, preparing briefs and inputs for policy dialogue and technical assistance. Assess the implications of new policy developments on programme execution and ensure their integration. Foster collaborative relationships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts, and UN agencies to ensure timely project delivery. Assist in implementing knowledge management strategies to capture and share lessons learned and best practices. Support the CO's advocacy and resource mobilization strategy by preparing relevant documentation and participating in meetings and public events.
Work Experience
Two years of professional experience in development and population activities, including programme/project management. Practical experience in designing, monitoring, and evaluating development projects. Experience with office software packages and web-based management systems.
