Organizational Context
UNFPA is the lead UN agency dedicated to fulfilling a world where every pregnancy is intended, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is realized. This role supports the UNFPA Strategic Plan for 2026-2029, focusing on accelerating the ICPD Programme of Action and achieving the SDGs. The Programme Analyst will report to the Programme Specialist, Adolescents & Youth.
Job Purpose
The Programme Analyst will substantively contribute to UNFPA's objectives in adolescent sexual and reproductive health (ASRH), maternal mortality reduction, and progress on the ICPD agenda. This involves integrating population and development, maternal and newborn health, family planning, HIV/STI prevention, gender equality, and poverty reduction into programs, with a specific emphasis on adolescents and youth. The role aims to ensure effective program delivery and achievement of results aligned with national and international frameworks.
Responsibilities
The Programme Analyst will analyze the political, social, and economic landscape relevant to ASRH, identifying opportunities for UNFPA intervention and ensuring ASRH issues are integrated into national development plans. Responsibilities include providing substantive input for policy dialogue, assessing technical assistance needs, and advising on program suitability. The role involves active participation in UN coordination mechanisms and contributing to joint UN programs. Programme management duties include leading the design and formulation of country programs and projects, guiding implementation, and ensuring effective collaboration with partners. The analyst will monitor program results, manage budgets, track expenditures, and report on financial information. Additionally, the role supports advocacy and resource mobilization efforts, builds partnerships, and contributes to knowledge management by documenting lessons learned and best practices in ASRH.
Work Experience
Requires five years of professional experience in programme/project management within the public or private sector at the national level. Experience working with government institutions, NGOs, and/or donor institutions is also necessary.
