Job Purpose
The Programme Analyst for Youth and Gender will provide substantive inputs to the development and implementation of the youth and gender components of the country program and related projects. The analyst will analyze political, social, and economic trends to identify opportunities for UNFPA intervention and contribute to national development frameworks. The purpose is to strengthen UNFPA's impact by integrating gender and youth perspectives across all programmatic areas, ultimately contributing to the organization's mandate of fulfilling young people's potential and advancing gender equality.
Responsibilities
The role involves contributing to high-quality programme and project design by incorporating lessons learned, new policies, and best practices, and establishing effective monitoring mechanisms. The analyst will analyze the socio-political and economic landscape concerning gender and youth, identifying intervention opportunities. This includes staying updated on policy developments, preparing briefs for policy dialogue, and fostering collaborative relationships with stakeholders. Key duties also involve facilitating timely project delivery, documenting and sharing knowledge on gender and youth issues, and supporting the development of national policies and strategies related to adolescent sexual and reproductive health and gender. Furthermore, the role supports the inclusion of comprehensive sexuality education in the school curriculum and assists the Ministry of Youth Affairs in implementing national youth programs.
Work Experience
Requires two years of relevant experience in youth and gender programming. Essential to have an understanding of gender, human rights, and women's rights. Demonstrated interest or experience in youth empowerment, civic engagement, development, project management, or monitoring and evaluation is beneficial. Good interpersonal, networking, and communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to work under pressure with attention to detail.
