The Communications and Advocacy Analyst supports the delivery of UNFPA's Country Programme in Myanmar, reporting directly to the UNFPA Representative. Job Purpose
The Communications and Advocacy Analyst plays a crucial role in driving the visibility of UNFPA's work in Myanmar, focusing on sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender equality, women's empowerment, and population dynamics. This position supports the Country Programme, extended to 2026, which aligns with UNFPA's Strategic Plan and the UN Transitional Cooperation Framework. By analyzing political, social, and economic trends, the analyst will monitor advocacy impact and ensure communication systems are effective and aligned with global standards. The role involves developing integrated communication components to strategically position UNFPA's priorities and enhance its impact.
Responsibilities
The role involves extensive research and analysis to promote awareness of the ICPD agenda and UNFPA's centrality in humanitarian and development efforts, collecting and disseminating information on key areas like sexual reproductive health and rights, gender equality, and humanitarian assistance. Responsibilities include developing and overseeing advocacy materials, identifying activities to enhance UNFPA's visibility, and cultivating networks with partners to promote communication strategies. The analyst will formulate strategies for UNFPA branding and media engagement, develop relationships with media professionals, and monitor media coverage. Additionally, the role entails raising awareness about UNFPA activities through various channels, including website and social media updates, organizing advocacy campaigns, and contributing to knowledge sharing and management within the Country Office.
Work Experience
A minimum of two years of professional experience in communications is required. Desirable experience includes building partnerships with media and organizations, understanding the UN system and UNFPA's mandate, knowledge of development issues in Myanmar, and excellent computer skills. Experience as a spokesperson is an advantage.
