Organizational Context
The intern will support the implementation of UNFPA's 10th Country Programme within the Integrated Field Support and Monitoring and Evaluation Unit at the UNFPA Country Office in Kampala, Uganda. Reporting to the Programme Specialist, Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Management, and overall to the Deputy Representative, this role contributes to UNFPA's mandate of ensuring every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
Job Purpose
The intern will provide crucial support to the UNFPA Country Programme in Uganda, focusing on monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge management. This role is designed to assist the programme team in strengthening data collection, analysis, and reporting mechanisms, ensuring alignment with donor agreements and the country programme results framework. The intern will contribute to tracking programme implementation, documenting achievements, and synthesizing information for various reports and knowledge products. By supporting these functions, the intern will enhance the effectiveness of programme delivery and contribute to UNFPA's strategic objectives in areas such as maternal health, family planning, and gender-based violence prevention.
Responsibilities
The intern will support planning, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting by assisting with the preparation and updating of Annual Work Plans, compiling and analyzing programme information, and tracking implementation results. This includes updating programme dashboards and supporting the preparation of quarterly, annual, UNSDCF, and donor reports. The role also involves contributing to monitoring and evaluation processes aligned with Results-Based Management principles and supporting the organization of field monitoring visits. In knowledge management, the intern will assist in documenting programme achievements, lessons learned, and good practices, maintaining programme documentation, and synthesizing information for reports and knowledge products. Additionally, the intern will provide programme coordination and administrative support, including tracking action points from meetings and supporting the coordination of programme events.
Work Experience
While not explicitly required, some experience working with development agencies, including in a volunteer capacity, is considered an asset. The internship itself is designed to provide learning opportunities in UN technical language, working procedures, and programme management within a multicultural setting.
