The Associate Partnerships Officer (Due Diligence) post is within the Grants and Resource Management Section of UNESCO's Division for Partnerships. This division coordinates public and private partners, including donors, UN organizations, regional institutions, civil society, and corporations. Its work aims to diversify UNESCO's donor base and support resource mobilization efforts across the organization, aligning with UN reform and best practices.

Job Purpose

The Donor Due Diligence and Audits (DDA) Unit, where this post is situated, is responsible for managing the due diligence process for private sector upstream partners to mitigate reputational risk. It also coordinates responses to donor assessments to support resource mobilization and oversees audits and verification of project funds. The unit collaborates with UNESCO Programme Sectors, Field Offices, Institutes, and central services to ensure these functions are performed effectively. The Associate Partnerships Officer plays a key role in these activities, working under direct supervision.

Responsibilities

The Associate Partnerships Officer (Due Diligence) is responsible for preparing due diligence reports for private sector upstream partners and responding to donor assessment requests. This includes maintaining a system for tracking due diligence requests, liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure timely processing, and conducting online searches for potential partners. The role involves preparing draft consultation letters to National Commissions, drafting due diligence reports for review, and developing communication and training materials on due diligence processes. Additionally, the officer will support Programme Sectors, Field Offices, and Institutes with audits and verification missions for projects funded by voluntary contributions, and assist in preparing documents for review committees.

Work Experience

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in due diligence or a related field is required, with at least one year gained at the international level. Experience in multicultural working environments is also beneficial.

Skills

Key skills include a strong understanding of due diligence processes and the UNSDG common approach, excellent analytical and report writing abilities with attention to detail, and strong written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in conducting detailed online searches, reviewing corporate reports, and summarizing information effectively is essential. The candidate should demonstrate adaptability, innovation, teamwork, and the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Familiarity with international organizations and client orientation are desirable.
