Consultoría Elaboración de una guía de educación STEAM
Organizational Context
The UNESCO Education Sector, specifically the Regional Office for Central America, Mexico, and Colombia, is seeking a consultant to develop a STEAM education guide. This initiative aligns with the global shift towards transdisciplinary educational approaches that address real-world problems and empower educational communities. The guide aims to support teachers in implementing STEAM methodologies.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this consultancy is to develop a comprehensive STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education guide for preschool and primary school teachers. This guide will serve as a pedagogical resource, providing conceptual definitions, practical recommendations for designing STEAM projects in classrooms and educational centers, and concrete project proposals adaptable to both rural and urban contexts. The objective is to strengthen teachers' capacities to effectively implement STEAM methodologies, fostering holistic, contextualized, and meaningful learning experiences that develop essential life skills and address contemporary educational challenges.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for reviewing existing literature, conceptual frameworks, and experiences in STEAM education, with a focus on its application in preschool and primary education. This includes developing the proposed structure and table of contents for the guide, encompassing conceptual, methodological, and project proposal sections. The consultant will draft the conceptual definitions of the STEAM approach and its pedagogical underpinnings. Furthermore, they will create practical recommendations for designing STEAM projects suitable for classrooms and educational centers at the preschool and primary levels. The role also involves designing STEAM project proposals that are applicable in both rural and urban settings, considering diverse resources and technology access. Finally, the consultant must incorporate feedback from UNESCO during the review process and deliver the final guide in an editable format ready for layout and publication.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of professional experience in developing educational resources and materials, particularly focusing on the STEAM approach, is necessary. Experience in designing and elaborating pedagogical resources and didactic guides for various educational levels, with a STEAM focus, is highly desirable, preferably within the Central American region. Experience in designing and implementing STEAM initiatives and project-based learning methodologies is also preferred.
