Organizational Context

UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, is dedicated to fostering peace, eradicating poverty, and promoting sustainable development through education, science, culture, and communication. The UNESCO Regional Office for South Asia in New Delhi manages programmes and partnerships across India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. The Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) division enhances the visibility of UNESCO's work through content creation and dissemination.

Job Purpose

The UNESCO Regional Office for South Asia seeks qualified individuals and agencies to join a Creative Services Roster for photography and videography. Rostered candidates will be engaged on an 'on-call' basis to provide essential visual content creation services. This role supports the Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) function in amplifying UNESCO's regional impact. Services include documenting events, field activities, and project outcomes. The roster aims to ensure timely and high-quality visual storytelling that aligns with UNESCO's mandate and values, contributing to the organization's communication objectives across its programme sectors.

Responsibilities

Capture high-quality, creative photographs and videos documenting UNESCO activities, events, and project outcomes across the South Asia region. Coordinate closely with UNESCO focal points to understand assignment briefs, attend briefings, and deliver outputs within stipulated deadlines. Provide comprehensive coverage of events and field missions, including key sessions, interactions, and interviews, utilizing multi-camera setups where necessary. Ensure all visual content reflects balanced, inclusive, and culturally sensitive representation, adhering to UNESCO's values, including gender equality and diversity. Obtain informed consent from all individuals featured in visual materials using official UNESCO forms. Edit and process all photographs and videos to professional standards, incorporating feedback and revisions. Deliver final outputs in specified formats, including high-resolution JPEGs, RAW files, MP4 videos, and relevant metadata. Ensure content complies with copyright, ethical standards, and includes UNESCO branding. Provide social media-ready content and captions as required, maintaining regular communication and meeting deadlines.

Work Experience

A minimum of three years of demonstrable professional experience in photography and/or videography is essential. This experience should include event coverage and field documentation. Prior experience within the development sector or with international organizations is considered an asset.

Skills

Possess strong photography and videography skills with a keen eye for composition, lighting, and visual storytelling. Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and/or Final Cut Pro is necessary. Ability to produce social media-ready content, including short video clips and captioned image selects, is required. Familiarity with UNESCO or UN branding guidelines is advantageous. Must be able to work independently under tight deadlines and demonstrate cultural sensitivity.
