In Peru, UNESCO and Anglo American's Quellaveco Association collaborate on the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina Project (2024-2027) in the Moquegua region. This initiative aims to enhance learning for 12,000 students by promoting innovative active learning methodologies that enrich academic experiences, life projects, and socio-emotional and digital skills, contributing to community development.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical assistance and pedagogical support to directors and teachers in selected educational institutions in Ilo, Peru. This role is crucial for improving student learning outcomes within the framework of the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina Project. The consultant will work under the authority of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Peru and the direct supervision of the Education Coordinator and Project Coordinator. The consultant will act as a pedagogical specialist, guiding and supporting educational staff to implement project components, develop innovative teaching strategies, and foster a collaborative learning environment. The objective is to strengthen pedagogical practices and leadership within educational institutions to achieve project goals and contribute to regional educational development.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for planning and programmatic coordination, including accompanying management teams to strengthen leadership and teacher engagement based on identified institutional challenges. They will ensure learning projects address real community problems and align with territorial needs, promoting their visibility through local, regional, and national innovation platforms. The consultant will also develop and evaluate training activities for educational stakeholders, focusing on project components and utilizing available resources. They will guide directors and teachers in developing educational projects using active learning methodologies like Project-Based Learning (PBL), ensuring student projects align with territorial challenges and act as innovation hubs. Furthermore, the consultant will consolidate and analyze project progress data for monthly and quarterly reports, conduct systematic monitoring of school visits, and prepare a final report detailing activities, lessons learned, and recommendations. This role also involves fostering a positive team spirit, participating in project meetings, and promoting collaboration among educational institutions to enhance project impact. Active support for organizing events like the Reimagina Festival and the Pedagogical Congress is also expected.
Work Experience
Required: Over 8 years of professional experience. At least 5 years of teaching experience in public primary or secondary schools. Minimum of 3 years of experience in educational projects as an advisor, facilitator, pedagogical monitor, or technical assistant, including experience as a pedagogical specialist in centralized or decentralized educational bodies. Experience in at least 2 educational projects or consultancies, community work in educational projects, managing educational networks, and engaging with teachers and directors is also required.
Skills
Core competencies include Communication, Accountability, Planning and Organization, and Results Focus. Proficiency in Spanish is essential. The ability to travel within and outside the country as needed for the project is required.
