In Peru, UNESCO collaborates with Anglo American's Quellaveco Association on the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina Project (2024-2027). This initiative in the Moquegua region aims to enhance learning for 12,000 students through innovative active learning methodologies, fostering academic growth, life projects, and socio-emotional and digital skills.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to provide technical assistance and pedagogical support to school directors and teachers in prioritized educational institutions in Moquegua. The consultant will work within the framework of the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina Project, aiming to improve student learning outcomes. This involves accompanying teachers in the classroom and supporting educational leaders to strengthen their pedagogical practices. The role is crucial for implementing innovative learning approaches and ensuring that educational projects align with community needs and territorial challenges, ultimately contributing to the educational development of the region.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for programmatic planning and coordination, including supporting management teams to enhance leadership and teacher collaboration based on identified institutional challenges. A key responsibility is ensuring that school learning projects address real community problems and align with territorial needs. The consultant will promote the presentation of teacher and director experiences in local, regional, and national innovation forums. They will also ensure the integration of project components into institutional management and organization. Pedagogical support involves developing and evaluating training actions for educators on project components, guiding directors and teachers in developing active learning projects, and ensuring student projects align with territorial challenges. The role includes report elaboration, consolidating project progress, analyzing advancements through action-research methodologies, and preparing monthly and final reports with verification means. Teamwork is essential, fostering a positive and collaborative environment, participating in project meetings, and promoting synergies between school projects. Additional functions include supporting the organization of the Reimagina Festival and the Pedagogical Congress.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience is required. This includes at least 5 years of teaching experience in public primary or secondary schools. Additionally, at least 3 years of experience in educational projects as an advisor, facilitator, pedagogical monitor, or technical assistant is necessary. Experience as a pedagogical specialist in centralized or decentralized educational bodies is also required. Experience in at least 2 projects or consultancies related to education, community work in educational projects, managing educational networks, and engaging with teachers and directors is essential.
Skills
Proficiency in Spanish is required. Familiarity with national curriculum, active learning methodologies, and project-based learning is essential. Core competencies include Communication, Accountability, Planning and Organization, and Results Focus.
