IT Assistant
Organizational Context
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Antenna Office in Yangon implements education sector initiatives. The IT Assistant will provide crucial ICT operational and technical support to ensure the effective delivery of UNESCO's corporate systems and services within Myanmar. This role is vital for maintaining the organization's ICT infrastructure and supporting the successful implementation of key educational programs.
Job Purpose
The IT Assistant will provide comprehensive ICT operational and technical support under the direct supervision of the Head of the Antenna Office in Yangon. This role is essential for ensuring the effective delivery of UNESCO's corporate systems and services in Myanmar, directly contributing to the implementation of education sector initiatives. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the organization's ICT infrastructure, resolving user issues, and supporting various ICT operations to guarantee reliable service delivery. This position plays a key role in enabling the smooth functioning of UNESCO's programs through robust technological support.
Responsibilities
Provide first-line desktop support for hardware, software, and network issues, resolving incidents and service requests promptly. Diagnose and resolve technical problems related to hardware, software, and connectivity. Perform tasks for scheduled service requests, including equipment installation/de-installation and software deployment. Maintain and track ICT assets, ensuring compliance with standards. Record and update all incidents and service requests in the ticketing system, identifying recurring issues for improvement. Escalate complex technical issues to appropriate support teams. Provide basic training to end-users on standard UNESCO systems and applications, and develop user guides. Support the implementation of cybersecurity measures, data backup, and disaster recovery procedures. Offer technical support for meetings, workshops, and video conferences, including audio-visual equipment. Assist the National ICT Officer with ICT responsibilities and promote effective ICT system usage. Perform other related duties as required.
Work Experience
A minimum of three years of progressive experience in ICT support or IT operations is required. This experience can be reduced to one year for candidates holding a first-level university degree or higher. Preferred experience includes end-user IT support (hardware, software, networks) and support for online/hybrid meetings or conferencing platforms.
Skills
Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and peripherals. Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting IT equipment. Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and collaboration tools. Familiarity with Windows operating systems, network administration, and IT security practices. Ability to provide timely technical support and prepare technical documentation. Knowledge of data backup, recovery, and cybersecurity principles. Basic understanding of networking concepts (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP).
