Job Purpose
UNESCO is seeking part-time Arabic language teachers to join its Language Teaching Programme. Under the supervision of the "Training and Development" team, these teachers will be responsible for improving the language proficiency of participants, thereby promoting linguistic diversity and multilingualism within the organization. The role involves delivering engaging Arabic courses, developing curriculum materials, and providing constructive feedback to students to enhance their communication skills. This position is crucial for supporting the organization's commitment to fostering a multicultural and multilingual environment.
Responsibilities
The Arabic Language Teacher will be responsible for delivering beginner-level Arabic courses in person, focusing on both expressive and comprehension skills. This includes preparing course descriptions, syllabi, lesson plans, and teaching materials tailored to the group's level and objectives. The teacher will also be expected to grade assignments, provide personalized feedback on student progress, and manage administrative tasks related to language teaching, such as tracking student attendance and communicating with learners as needed. The role contributes to building a pool of part-time language instructors for future opportunities.
Work Experience
Relevant professional experience in teaching Arabic to adult learners within a professional setting is preferred. This experience should demonstrate the ability to effectively impart language skills and manage a classroom environment.
