Organizational Context

UNESCO is seeking part-time Arabic language teachers for its language teaching program, which aims to enhance staff language abilities and promote multilingualism. Teachers will operate under the Bureau of Human Resources Management's Learning & Development team. The program offers language courses to improve communication skills and foster linguistic diversity within the organization.

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to teach Arabic to beginners in an in-person setting, contributing to UNESCO's language teaching program. The teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons that cover both production and receptive language skills. This position aims to improve the language proficiency of participants, thereby supporting UNESCO's commitment to multilingualism and effective communication among its staff and other stakeholders. The role involves creating a conducive learning environment and ensuring participants achieve their language learning objectives.

Responsibilities

The part-time Arabic language teacher will be responsible for delivering in-person beginner Arabic courses, focusing on developing both production and receptive language skills. This includes preparing comprehensive course descriptions, syllabi, lesson plans, and learning materials tailored to the group's level and objectives. The teacher will also be tasked with correcting assignments, providing constructive feedback, and offering individualized guidance on participant progress. Administrative duties, such as maintaining attendance records and communicating with students, are also part of the role. Assignments will be conducted at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France, with contractual arrangements agreed upon individually based on specific needs.

Work Experience

Experience in teaching Arabic to adult learners in a professional context is preferred.
