Job Purpose

The UNESCO Office in Peru seeks a Cultural Policies and Development Management Specialist to support the coordination, implementation, and monitoring of its cultural program portfolio. This role is crucial for achieving strategic objectives in areas such as heritage protection, creative economy development, and cultural governance. The specialist will contribute to strengthening cultural policies, fostering creative industries, and leveraging culture for sustainable development. This position ensures the effective execution of planned initiatives, aligning with UNESCO's global mandate and national priorities in Peru, and supporting the overall operational planning of the Culture Program for 2026.

Responsibilities

Lead and ensure the proper implementation of the "Perú Sonoro: Roadmap for Music in Digital Environments" project, managing its components, timeline, and budget. This includes developing work plans, monitoring technical and financial progress, identifying risks, and coordinating multi-stakeholder sessions. Coordinate the development, publication, and dissemination of cultural sector publications, ensuring timely execution and alignment with strategic objectives. Provide technical assistance for projects like "Ayllu Verde" focusing on circular economy in sustainable tourism, and support programs related to the creative sector, heritage, and sustainability within UNESCO conventions. Assist in resource mobilization by identifying collaboration opportunities and developing project proposals. Provide technical support for project supervision, monitoring, and budget execution. Participate in coordination meetings with public institutions and strategic partners.

Work Experience

Over ten years of experience in managing cultural policies, projects, and/or programs. At least two years of experience in general coordination and/or supervision of cultural sector units. At least five years of experience in managing and/or designing cultural projects. Experience in similar functions within the UN system is desirable.

Skills

Accountability, Communication, Planning and Organizing, Results Focus. Proficiency in Spanish (native or advanced/fluent) is required. Specialization in international cooperation for development is desirable.
