The UNESCO Regional Office for the Gulf States and Yemen, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Yemen and key education partners, supports the strengthening of education sector governance, coordination, monitoring, and evidence-based planning in Yemen. UNESCO serves as the Coordinating Agency of the Local Education Group (LEG) and chairs the Development Partners Group (DPG) in Yemen, supporting sector dialogue and engagement among key education stakeholders.
Job Purpose
UNESCO seeks to recruit a Project Associate to provide technical and operational support to project implementation and coordination efforts within the Yemen System Capacity Grant (SCG). The role focuses on strengthening sector coordination mechanisms, institutionalizing monitoring and reporting systems, and reinforcing evidence-based planning and accountability across the education sector. The incumbent will support the coordination and implementation of project activities, ensuring effective engagement with various stakeholders including government bodies, international partners, and donors. This position is crucial for advancing UNESCO's mission in Yemen by enhancing the capacity and effectiveness of the education sector.
Responsibilities
The Project Associate will support the implementation of education sector activities in Yemen under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. Key responsibilities include supporting sector coordination and joint reviews by liaising with the Ministry of Education, LEG, DPG, donors, and partners; organizing and documenting meetings; following up on agreed actions; and preparing agendas, minutes, and briefing notes. The role also involves assisting with sector monitoring and reporting, collecting and consolidating partner updates, and maintaining project records. Furthermore, the incumbent will provide day-to-day project coordination, assist with workplans and timelines, prepare technical inputs and reports, and support communication with project partners. Mission and field support, including logistical arrangements, and administrative tasks related to project implementation are also expected.

A minimum of 4 years of relevant professional experience is required for this position.
