Organizational Context
The Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM Report) is an independent, authoritative, and evidence-based annual report monitoring progress in education for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Funded by governments, multilateral agencies, and foundations, it is published annually by UNESCO. The report is a vital tool for achieving SDG 4, ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all by 2030. It identifies effective education policies and analyzes key education themes.
Job Purpose
This consultancy supports the GEM Report's global resource partnerships, communications, and outreach, with a specific focus on Asia. The role involves conducting donor intelligence, preparing outreach materials, and developing targeted engagement strategies for prospective public and private sector partners. A key objective is to enhance the Report's visibility through coordinated communications, including regular updates to web content. The consultant will implement advocacy, partnerships, and fundraising strategies, particularly for China and Asia, to expand and strengthen links with academic, government, and private sector organizations. This includes mapping activities, tailoring materials, and engaging institutions to boost regional visibility and accessibility.
Responsibilities
The consultant will support the GEM Report's advocacy, partnerships, and fundraising strategies, with a focus on China and Asia, aiming to expand and strengthen links with academic, government, and private sector organizations. This involves mapping activities, tailoring materials, and engaging institutions. The role also supports communications and external relations activities for China and Asia, including developing, localizing, and updating Chinese-language GEM Report web pages and producing digital communications assets to enhance regional visibility and accessibility. Key deliverables include conducting strategic donor, stakeholder, and partner research; supporting the development of the GEM Report China strategy and outreach plan; maintaining and updating Chinese-language digital content; preparing communications and media outreach products; supporting resource mobilization and institutional engagement; and contributing to planning and coordination for China dissemination and engagement activities.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in communications, stakeholder engagement, partnership development, or resource mobilization. Experience managing digital content, websites, and audience engagement initiatives, including multilingual projects, is required. Proven experience supporting donor relations and institutional partnerships is also necessary.
Skills
Strong knowledge of digital communications platforms. Ability to conduct donor, stakeholder, and partnership research. Experience preparing high-quality fundraising, briefing, outreach, and advocacy materials. Excellent communication, project management, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
