Job Purpose
The Associate Project Officer- Digital Games will serve as the primary lead for the digital games for peace program, reporting to the Director and directly supervised by the National Project IT Officer. This role involves conceptualizing and designing digital games that promote education for peace, well-being, and sustainability, ensuring pedagogical soundness and alignment with the Institute's mission. The officer will coordinate with external development partners for the creation, implementation, and maintenance of educational technology products, ensuring quality and timely delivery. Additionally, the role includes overseeing the deployment of digital game-based courses on MGIEP's learning platform, FramerSpace, and conducting research to evaluate the effectiveness of these interventions. The position also requires engaging with the broader EdTech ecosystem to foster partnerships and explore innovative approaches, while collaborating internally to ensure coherence and innovation across digital learning initiatives.
Responsibilities
Design and develop digital games and game-based tools for learning and assessment, focusing on education for peace, well-being, and sustainability. Collaborate with internal digital learning and program teams to ensure game designs are pedagogically sound, contextually relevant, and aligned with UNESCO MGIEP's mission. Liaise with external web, software, and game development vendors to coordinate the development, implementation, and maintenance of educational technology products, ensuring quality control and timely delivery. Oversee the creation and deployment of digital game-based courses on the FramerSpace learning platform, working with educators and stakeholders to adapt content and build capacity for game-based learning. Design and manage research studies to evaluate the effectiveness of game-based educational interventions, collecting and analyzing data with internal and external partners. Stay informed about emerging trends in educational technology and game design, building partnerships with design schools, EdTech companies, and academic institutions. Work closely with MGIEP's learning technologists and program teams to ensure coherence, integration, and innovation across digital learning initiatives. Perform any other tasks assigned by the Supervisor or Director.
Work Experience
Minimum of two years of professional experience in designing and/or managing digital educational products, with a preference for game-based learning tools. Experience in coordinating or conducting research and evaluation related to educational technology or game-based learning is required. Familiarity with digital learning platforms and working with multiple stakeholders is essential.
Skills
Strong understanding of gamification principles and their application in educational design. Demonstrable competence in designing educational games aligned with learning goals. Familiarity with digital learning platforms and tools. Excellent project management and coordination skills. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities. Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
