Organizational Context
The International Institute for Educational Planning (IIEP) Africa office is seeking a learning designer for the training "Foundations of Disability-Inclusive Education Sector Planning." This program is part of a regional initiative in West Africa and is delivered in English, French, and Portuguese. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and capable of working within a multicultural team.
Job Purpose
The primary purpose of this role is to design and develop innovative and accessible learning pathways for the "Foundations of Disability-Inclusive Education Sector Planning" training. This involves creating engaging multimedia resources and managing hybrid training sessions tailored for participants from low-income countries. The learning designer will ensure the training is delivered effectively in three languages (English, French, Portuguese), catering to diverse needs and promoting inclusive education sector planning across West Africa. The role requires a proactive approach to content creation, platform management, and participant support, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of Cohort 3 of the training program. This includes reviewing and translating onboarding materials, conducting platform testing, and ensuring content meets language and accessibility standards. The role involves creating accessible documents, recording and uploading live sessions, and developing a detailed work plan with suggested improvements. Additionally, the consultant will provide technical assistance to finalize the learning platform, update course materials, and coordinate with various teams (IT, communications, editors, interpreters) to ensure smooth course delivery. Support for live sessions includes organizing, coordinating tests, creating instructions, and providing technical assistance to participants and team members. Monitoring and evaluation of Cohort 3 involve collecting and analyzing LMS data, identifying adjustments, and drafting reports on course effectiveness. The consultant will also contribute to developing an accessibility policy and manage ad hoc live events on the Zoom platform.
Work Experience
Requires over four years of proven experience in designing, developing, deploying, and evaluating online, blended, and face-to-face training courses. A minimum of two years of experience with Moodle platform administration and configuration is necessary, along with at least three years in managing educational projects from design to evaluation.
Skills
Key skills include project management, understanding of learning theories, proficiency with LMS (especially Moodle), and content development. Experience in managing live events on Zoom is essential. Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and needs analysis, coupled with critical thinking for problem-solving, are crucial. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including multilingual proficiency in French and English, are required to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
