Organizational Context
The Global Education Monitoring Report (GEM Report) is an independent, authoritative, and evidence-based annual report monitoring progress in education within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Funded by governments, multilateral agencies, and foundations, it is published annually by UNESCO. The report is a vital tool for achieving SDG 4, which promotes inclusive, equitable quality education and lifelong learning for all by 2030. Established by the Incheon Declaration, the GEM Report series analyzes effective education policies and key education-related themes.
Job Purpose
The GEM Report aims to enhance its Salesforce CRM ecosystem to better support evolving strategic and communications objectives, focusing on improved engagement, segmentation, and reporting through more effective use of its contact database and Salesforce Marketing Cloud. This role requires a Salesforce Administrator to implement, maintain, and refine platform configurations and workflows, ensuring the system's functionality, security, and alignment with operational and project needs. The consultant will also support related digital communications initiatives under the guidance of the Project Officer for Web and Social Media, performing duties on-site at the UNESCO office in Paris. The position is crucial for optimizing the GEM Report's digital outreach and data management capabilities.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for organizing and ensuring the integrity of the Salesforce database by reviewing its structure, identifying and addressing data inconsistencies, duplicates, and errors, and implementing ongoing data cleaning and quality assurance activities. Guidelines and processes for database integrity and governance will be established and documented. Support will be provided for configuring and optimizing campaigns, reports, and dashboards in Salesforce and Marketing Cloud, updating the user interface, and managing event registration and sign-up processes. Automated email journeys and communication workflows will be developed and managed, with regular troubleshooting and technical support provided to internal teams. Guidance on best practices for Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud usage will be offered, along with user documentation and training. Additionally, the role includes providing translation support into French, adapting email communications in multiple languages, assisting with video content editing and production, contributing to the GEM Report's Wikipedia page updates with references, researching methods to improve content visibility on AI tools, and supporting broader communications activities as needed.
Work Experience
A minimum of 2 years of professional experience in email marketing and communications. Proven experience in CRM support and database management is required.
Skills
Excellent communication, project management, and interpersonal skills are essential for working effectively in a multicultural environment. Strong problem-solving abilities are also required. Technical expertise includes excellent skills in Marketing Cloud, demonstrated ability in CRM troubleshooting, proficiency with video and photo editing tools, and knowledge of internet, social media, SEO, and web technologies.
