Consultant - Student/ Young professional in Museum Collection Digitalization

Organizational Context

UNESCO is supporting the Khortytsia National Reserve in Ukraine, which has suffered significant damage to its cultural infrastructure due to the ongoing full-scale invasion. The organization is providing emergency assistance, including conservation materials, facility repairs, training, and digitization equipment, to help safeguard cultural heritage. This project, funded by Sweden, aims to strengthen the Reserve's capacity and accelerate the digitization of its museum collections.

Job Purpose

This consultancy aims to support the Khortytsia National Reserve in Ukraine by recruiting students to assist with the digitization of museum collections. The initiative is part of a larger UNESCO project focused on emergency measures and cultural heritage protection in the region. The role will involve completing collection registration records and entering data into digital museum databases, thereby optimizing staff workload. It also serves as an opportunity for knowledge exchange and capacity building, fostering collaboration between young professionals and experienced experts within the Reserve.

Responsibilities

The consultant will undertake tasks related to the digitization and documentation of museum collections. This includes preparing and completing collection records and associated documentation, following the specific needs and instructions provided by the Reserve's staff. The assignment is designed to enhance the efficiency of collection management while offering participants practical experience. They will learn from the Reserve's experts through hands-on work, contributing directly to the preservation and accessibility of cultural heritage. The role is part-time, requiring 18 hours per week over 17 weeks.

Work Experience

Previous experience working with or collaborating with the Khortytsia National Reserve is considered an advantage for this role.

Skills

Strong communication skills are essential for effective collaboration and task execution in this role.
