Job Purpose
The Programme Assistant will support the implementation of the "SUD-INCA Invest in Capability in Sudan" project, focusing on improving Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Kassala state. This role is critical for rehabilitating and empowering the Aroma Agricultural Secondary School, introducing new training courses in areas such as greenhouse farming, pesticide application, sheep breeding, and solar power installation. The objective is to equip youth, including girls and vulnerable populations, with relevant skills for better employment and livelihoods, thereby strengthening the Agri-TVET sector and contributing to the overall economic development and resilience of the region. The position requires close collaboration with local stakeholders and adherence to UNESCO's operational standards.
Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive support for the timely and accurate implementation of project activities in Kassala state, adhering to UNESCO's rules and regulations. Assist in preparing and updating situation analyses, conducting research, and collecting data for project development. Foster and maintain strong partnerships with government counterparts and national stakeholders, supporting their capacity building. Monitor financial and budgetary aspects of program activities, analyze expenditure data, and contribute to financial reporting. Support the implementation of various activities, including school rehabilitation, procurement, and expert selection. Facilitate the formation of Public Private Partnerships and ensure synergy with the CapED Programme. Draft Terms of Reference for experts and consultants, and manage their contracting. Ensure timely delivery of planned activities, meeting deadlines, and reporting regularly on progress. Coordinate meetings, workshops, and events, including logistical and budgetary arrangements. Prepare meeting minutes, progress reports, and other documentation. Provide general office assistance, including translation and information dissemination. Maintain and archive program documentation. Keep the Project Manager informed of all activities and escalate any emerging issues.
Work Experience
A minimum of five years of experience in project management related to TVET program development is required. Experience working in Aroma or Kassala state, familiarity with the local context, and knowledge of UN systems are desirable.
Skills
Excellent organizational and coordination skills, with an aptitude for working under pressure. Proficiency in computer use, internet, and databases. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English and Arabic. Ability to work collaboratively in a team, demonstrate initiative, and maintain attention to detail.
