UNESCO's Education Sector leads globally and regionally to ensure quality education for all. In Peru, UNESCO collaborates with Anglo American's Quellaveco Association on the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina Project (2024-2027). This initiative in the Moquegua region aims to enhance learning for 12,000 students through innovative active learning methodologies, fostering academic growth, life projects, and socio-emotional and digital skills.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this consultancy is to provide technical assistance and pedagogical support to directors and teachers in prioritized educational institutions in Moquegua. The role is crucial for improving student learning outcomes within the framework of the UNESCO-Quellaveco-Reimagina Project. The consultant will work directly with educational teams to strengthen leadership, facilitate the implementation of institutional challenges, and ensure that learning projects address real community problems and territorial challenges. This involves guiding the development of active learning projects and fostering innovation within educational institutions.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for planning and programmatic coordination, including accompanying management teams to strengthen leadership and articulation of driving groups and teaching teams. They will ensure that learning projects contribute to solving real community problems and align with territorial challenges. The role involves promoting the presentation of transformation experiences and projects in local, regional, and national innovation forums. Additionally, the consultant will guide the incorporation of project components into institutional management and organization. Pedagogical advisory includes developing and evaluating training actions for socio-educational actors, orienting directors and teachers on active learning methodologies like ABP, and ensuring student projects align with territorial challenges. The consultant must also consolidate and organize project progress information for monthly and quarterly reports, analyze progress using an action-research methodology, and prepare a final report detailing activities, lessons learned, and recommendations. Teamwork involves promoting a positive team spirit, participating in project meetings, and fostering collaboration between institutions to enhance project impact. Other functions include supporting the organization of the Reimagina 2026 Festival and the 2026 Pedagogical Congress.
Work Experience
A minimum of 8 years of professional experience is required. This includes at least 5 years of teaching experience in public primary or secondary schools. Additionally, at least 3 years of experience in educational projects as an advisor, facilitator, pedagogical monitor, or technical assistant is necessary. Experience in at least 2 projects or consultancies related to education, community work in educational projects, managing educational networks, and engaging with teachers and directors is also required.
Skills
Key competencies include Communication, Accountability, Planning and Organization, and Results Focus. Proficiency in Spanish is essential. Experience with active learning methodologies, project-based learning (ABP), and educational innovation is highly valued. The ability to develop training programs, provide pedagogical guidance, and produce comprehensive reports is crucial for this role.
