IT Assistant
Organizational Context
The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization Regional Office in Bangkok (UNESCO Bangkok) oversees UNESCO's programs across seven countries in education, sciences, culture, and communication. Established in 1961, it plays a key role in regional educational coordination and capacity development, leading the SDG4-Education 2030 Agenda for 46 Member States and three Associate Members. The office provides essential IT support to ensure the smooth delivery of corporate IT services, online events, and digital media.
Job Purpose
The IT Assistant provides crucial technical support to the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, ensuring the seamless operation of corporate IT services, online and hybrid events, and digital media functions. This role is vital for maintaining daily operations and the effective utilization of UNESCO's IT systems and tools. The incumbent will address a wide range of IT issues, from hardware and software problems to connectivity and collaboration tool support, including specialized assistance for virtual and hybrid events. The position also involves managing and operating audiovisual and conferencing systems, preparing digital materials, and processing multimedia content, all while adhering to UNESCO's corporate standards and policies.
Responsibilities
Provide first-line IT assistance to users, resolving hardware, software, connectivity, and collaboration tool issues, including those related to online and hybrid events. Respond to incident calls and service requests, escalating complex cases as needed. Perform scheduled IT tasks such as equipment installation, removal, software deployment, and network connections. Accurately document all support actions in the tracking system. Offer basic guidance and training to end-users on standard UNESCO applications and digital platforms. Identify recurring IT issues and propose improvements. Plan, install, configure, and operate audiovisual and conferencing systems for meetings and events, providing real-time technical support. Coordinate with program teams for event technical requirements, conduct system checks, and mitigate risks. Maintain AV equipment through routine inspection and basic troubleshooting. Prepare and manage digital and visual materials for events. Record, edit, and process audio and video content from events. Perform other related duties as required to support ICT services and office operations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in IT support or service desk functions is required for candidates with secondary education. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree need a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience. Experience should include end-user IT support (hardware, software, networks) and support for online/hybrid meetings, AV systems, or conferencing platforms.
Skills
Proficiency in Windows OS and Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Office apps, PowerBI). Strong knowledge of network fundamentals (LAN/Wi-Fi, basic security). Practical experience with AV systems and conferencing tools (e.g., MS Teams, Zoom). Ability to troubleshoot IT and AV equipment. Basic multimedia tool knowledge is an asset. Excellent English and Thai language skills are essential.
