Job Purpose
The IT Assistant provides crucial technical support to the UNESCO Regional Office in Bangkok, ensuring the seamless operation of corporate IT services, online and hybrid events, and digital media functions. This role involves delivering first-line IT assistance for hardware, software, connectivity, and collaboration tools, including specialized support for virtual and hybrid meetings. The incumbent will manage incident calls, service requests, and scheduled tasks like equipment installation and software deployment. A key aspect is documenting all support actions and providing basic end-user training on UNESCO systems and digital platforms. The position also contributes to identifying and proposing improvements for IT service quality and reliability.
Responsibilities
Provide first-line IT support to users, addressing hardware, software, connectivity, and collaboration tool issues, including those related to online and hybrid events. Respond to incident calls and service requests, resolving issues at the first point of contact or escalating complex cases. Perform scheduled service requests such as equipment installation, hardware replacement, software deployment, and LAN connections. Accurately document all support actions and outcomes in the tracking system. Offer basic guidance and on-the-job training to end-users on standard UNESCO applications and digital collaboration platforms. Identify recurring issues and propose improvements to enhance service quality. Plan, install, configure, test, and operate audiovisual and conferencing systems for meetings and events, providing real-time technical support. Coordinate with programme teams to prepare event technical requirements and conduct system checks. Maintain AV and event-related equipment through routine inspection and basic troubleshooting. Prepare and manage digital and visual materials for events, including presentation layouts and platform configurations. Record, edit, and finalize audio and video content from events as required. Perform other related duties to support ICT services and office operations.
Work Experience
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in IT support or service desk functions is required for candidates with secondary education. Candidates with a Bachelor's degree need a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience. Experience should include end-user IT support (hardware, software, networks) and support for online/hybrid meetings, AV systems, or conferencing platforms.
Skills
Strong knowledge of Windows OS and network fundamentals (LAN/Wi-Fi, basic security). Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Office apps, PowerBI). Practical experience with audio-visual systems, conferencing tools (MS Teams, Zoom), and basic IT/AV equipment troubleshooting. Working knowledge of basic multimedia tools is an asset. Excellent English and Thai language skills are essential.
