Organizational Context
UNESCO, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports of Spain and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation, is organizing the XXI RIINEE Cooperation Conference. This event focuses on inclusive technologies and artificial intelligence to address educational barriers for students with disabilities. UNESCO Santiago has also launched an Observatory on Artificial Intelligence in Education for Latin America and the Caribbean to generate evidence and build resilience in educational systems.
Job Purpose
The primary objective of this consultancy is to produce a comprehensive document identifying trends and analyzing the use of inclusive technologies (digital, accessible, and assistive) and artificial intelligence. This analysis aims to reduce or remove educational barriers for individuals with disabilities. The document will serve as a foundational conceptual input for the XXI RIINEE Cooperation Conference and will facilitate discussions among network members. It will explore global trends, map advancements in inclusive technologies and AI within the RIINEE member countries in Latin America, and identify best practices and lessons learned.
Responsibilities
The consultant will be responsible for developing a methodological proposal for the document's creation. This includes defining a conceptual framework for analyzing the integration of technologies, including AI, for the educational inclusion of persons with disabilities. The consultant will conduct a description of global trends in this field and identify and map information on the progress of inclusive technologies and AI for the inclusion of students with disabilities across the 19 RIINEE member countries in Latin America. A key deliverable is a comprehensive document featuring an introduction, trend analysis, best practices, lessons learned, an executive summary, and conclusions. The consultant will also present this document at the XXI RIINEE Cooperation Conference.
Work Experience
A minimum of four to seven years of relevant experience in educational research in Latin America, with a focus on technology and Artificial Intelligence, and/or the situation of students with disabilities. Experience in drafting technical reports on the subject is also required.
Skills
Knowledge of inclusive education trends for students with disabilities in Latin America. Understanding of technology and AI in education. Excellent research and writing skills. Strong analytical and communication abilities. Capacity to produce clear and comprehensive reports. Data analysis skills. Familiarity with UNESCO programs and international education agendas.
