UNESCO's Education Sector in Iraq is supporting the Ministry of Education (MoE) to integrate digital technologies into the education system, building on lessons learned from COVID-19 and aligning with global initiatives like the Transforming Education Summit. This effort aims to strengthen the MoE's capacity for coordinated digital learning delivery and policy development, fostering inclusive and sustainable digital education ecosystems.
Job Purpose
This consultancy, under the ITALEEM project funded by the European Union, aims to enhance the quality of education in Iraq by supporting the Ministry of Education (MoE) in integrating digital technologies. The role involves developing contextualized EdTech tools and resources for secondary school curricula, with a focus on disadvantaged groups. The objective is to equip the MoE with the necessary digital skills and knowledge to manage interactive digital curricula, contributing to SDG 4, transforming education through digital learning, and building a more resilient education system prepared for crises and improved access to quality education.
Responsibilities
Develop contextualized, step-by-step EdTech tools and resources for integration into secondary school curricula, prioritizing disadvantaged and marginalized groups. Create a comprehensive guideline for integrating accessibility features into MoE e-learning platforms, ensuring compatibility with national curriculum digitization standards. Design and deliver a blended training package for MoE staff on operating and utilizing e-learning platforms. Establish a framework for a digital content repository with guidelines for organization, tagging, multilingual search, and accessibility compliance. Develop subject-specific digital tools with AI features for secondary school curricula (Grades 7-12). Conduct pilot implementations of these tools, analyze feedback, and prepare a final report summarizing findings and developed resources for nationwide rollout.
Work Experience
Requires over 10 years of experience in education, educational technology, developing online/offline educational materials, or information technology. Proven experience in curriculum development, digitalization, teacher training on blended pedagogy, and e-learning platforms in developing countries is essential. Demonstrated experience in developing digital education tools and platforms, along with experience working with government ministries and educational institutions, is necessary.
