Job Purpose
UNESCO seeks a National Coordination Consultant to provide essential support for the "Transforming Technical Vocational Education and Training in Jordan" project. This role is crucial for coordinating and implementing UNESCO's technical assistance to the Ministry of Education. The consultant will focus on ensuring the effective and timely delivery of project activities, strengthening stakeholder follow-up, and aligning all efforts with UNESCO's procedures, work plans, and project objectives. The aim is to enhance the TVET system in Jordan, address youth unemployment, and reduce gender disparities in line with national education strategies and economic modernization visions.
Responsibilities
The Consultant will offer operational, coordination, and implementation support to the UNESCO Education Unit, specifically for the Transforming TVET in Jordan project. Key duties include reviewing work plans and timelines to ensure timely delivery, developing and maintaining tools for implementation tracking and oversight, and monitoring progress against work plans. The role involves flagging implementation delays, risks, and operational bottlenecks, proposing corrective actions, and supporting structured coordination with the Ministry of Education, vocational schools, colleges, consultants, service providers, and other TVET stakeholders. The consultant will prepare for and contribute to coordination meetings, identify coordination gaps, and propose solutions to improve information flow and stakeholder engagement. Operational advice will be provided for planning and delivering workshops, consultations, and field visits. Follow-up on consultant and service provider deliverables, preparing operational notes, progress updates, and recommendations are also key responsibilities. The role requires maintaining professional communication with all partners and providing ad hoc operational advice on emerging implementation issues.
Work Experience
A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in project coordination, implementation support, administration, or operational support is necessary. Experience in supporting education, TVET, or donor-funded development programs is essential. Demonstrated experience in organizing and supporting meetings, workshops, consultations, missions, and field activities is required, along with experience in preparing meeting minutes and maintaining project documentation.
Skills
Proficiency in drafting, documentation, and reporting in both Arabic and English is essential. Strong coordination and follow-up skills are required, along with demonstrated proficiency in MS Office applications. Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills are necessary, as is the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are vital for interacting with diverse stakeholders.
