The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO is the United Nations body dedicated to supporting global ocean science and services. Job Purpose
This internship offers a valuable learning opportunity to support the mission of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO. Activities will be tailored to the specific needs of the assigned team, with detailed Terms of Reference and learning objectives provided. The intern will gain practical experience in areas such as Programme and Project Support, including data collection, analysis, and contributing to document preparation. They will also engage in Research and Knowledge Management, assisting with reviews and the creation of communication products. Furthermore, the role involves supporting Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement, and providing essential Operations and Communications Support, offering a comprehensive understanding of the IOC's diverse functions.
Responsibilities
Interns will contribute to various aspects of the IOC's work, including Programme and Project Support by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data, and assisting in the preparation of documents and project proposals. In Research and Knowledge Management, interns will undertake specific research, contribute to knowledge products, and participate in meetings. Support for Partnerships and Stakeholder Engagement involves analyzing data for potential collaborations and assisting in engaging partners. Operational Support includes providing administrative and logistical assistance for meetings and events, and supporting budget and documentation preparation. Communications Support entails assisting in the drafting and dissemination of communication materials. Interns will also gain exposure to multilateral processes, data analysis, partnership development, and international project management.
