INTERNSHIP: Culture Sector
Organizational Context
UNESCO's Culture Sector is dedicated to promoting culture and the creative economy while safeguarding cultural and natural heritage. It addresses global challenges through the implementation of six UNESCO Culture Conventions and related recommendations, supporting Member States in developing national policies and strategies. Job Purpose
This internship within the UNESCO Culture Sector offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the organization's mission of promoting culture and safeguarding heritage. Interns will work under the guidance of senior staff to support the implementation and monitoring of culture programmes and activities. This includes assisting in the preparation of various documents, reports, and communication materials, as well as conducting research, data compilation, and analysis related to UNESCO Culture Conventions. The role involves participating in and supporting meetings, workshops, and events, and fostering relationships with internal and external partners. The internship aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of UNESCO's mandate and operations within the UN system, enhancing practical skills in a multicultural environment.
Responsibilities
Interns will actively assist in the implementation and monitoring of diverse Culture Sector programmes and activities. A key responsibility includes contributing to the preparation of essential documents, reports, work plans, and communication content, such as briefings, talking points, speeches, and online materials. Interns will also be involved in conducting research, compiling data, and performing analysis, as well as drafting and preparing materials pertinent to the execution of UNESCO Culture Conventions. Participation in and support for upcoming meetings, training workshops, events, webinars, and conferences, including note-taking and minute preparation, is expected. Furthermore, interns will help build and maintain working relationships with other UNESCO Sectors/Entities, donors, partners, and relevant national and international organizations. Any additional tasks assigned by the Unit/Entity within the Culture Sector will also be part of the intern's responsibilities.
