This role is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient mobility of project teams within the operational area.
Job Purpose
The Chauffeur is responsible for safely transporting authorized personnel, visitors, and project goods, adhering strictly to traffic regulations and UN security guidelines. This includes ensuring passenger safety, providing security feedback on local conditions, and securing cargo. The role also involves welcoming officials, managing official errands, distributing mail, and facilitating document exchange with partners. Additionally, the chauffeur is expected to maintain the vehicle to high standards, perform basic repairs, and keep all vehicle documentation up-to-date, reporting any issues promptly to ensure operational continuity and safety for all involved in project activities.
Responsibilities
Safely operate a service vehicle for authorized personnel, visitors, and project goods, strictly following traffic laws and UN security protocols. Ensure passenger safety by enforcing seatbelt use and door locking, and refuse transport to non-compliant individuals. Provide timely security feedback on local conditions and secure all cargo. Perform daily vehicle checks, including fluid levels, brakes, and tires, and conduct basic repairs as needed. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and report any mechanical malfunctions promptly, following up on repairs. Ensure all required vehicle documents are present and valid, and accurately track mileage and fuel consumption. Document and report all incidents or accidents according to established procedures. Assist with administrative tasks such as collecting quotes, delivering mail, making photocopies, and supporting event logistics when required.
Work Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience as a chauffeur with an impeccable driving record is required. Experience with field missions without driver-related accidents is essential. Prior experience with the UN or international organizations is desirable.
Skills
Safe driving, adherence to traffic laws and security protocols, vehicle maintenance and basic repairs, accurate record-keeping, incident reporting, communication, customer service, knowledge of local routes, basic computer proficiency (MS Office), and awareness of safety and security procedures.
