Organizational Context

This role is part of the "Strengthening Capacities for Economic Impulse and Sustainable Development Goals" project, a collaboration between the Government of Mexico and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to enhance the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' (SRE) capabilities in economic diplomacy, international positioning, investment attraction, and trade promotion, aligning with Mexico's strategic economic priorities.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to support Mexico's economic diplomacy and international economic agenda. This involves proposing and monitoring trade promotion strategies, designing actions with Mexican Representations abroad to identify and foster commercial opportunities, and leading Mexico's participation in international events like trade fairs and business missions. The role also entails managing relationships with government bodies, private sector organizations, and strategic actors to strengthen trade promotion projects and coordinate high-level engagements, ultimately contributing to Mexico's economic interests and business development.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include proposing and overseeing trade promotion strategies aligned with national priorities and economic diplomacy frameworks. This involves designing initiatives with Mexican Representations abroad to identify and develop commercial and supply chain opportunities in strategic markets. The role requires leading Mexico's participation in international trade fairs, seminars, business encounters, and trade missions to promote key sectors and generate business opportunities for Mexican companies. Additionally, it involves directing engagement with federal, state, and municipal government agencies, as well as business organizations, to bolster trade promotion projects. The position also entails supervising follow-up actions on foreign trade, value chains, and business linkages, and coordinating participation in high-level meetings and strategic events related to Mexico's international trade promotion agenda.

Work Experience

Candidates with a Bachelor's degree require at least 4 years of experience in foreign trade, public-private sector liaison, event management, innovation, or related fields. Candidates with a Master's degree require at least 2 years of experience in these areas.

Skills

Effective communication (oral and written), negotiation, team and time management, and institutional relations management are required. Desired skills include knowledge of international economics, private sector development, foreign trade, diplomacy, strategic alliance development, and experience within the Mexican Federal Administration or international organizations. Advanced English proficiency is also required.
