Organizational Context
This role supports the project "Strengthening Capacities for Economic Impulse and Sustainable Development Goals," a collaboration between the Government of Mexico and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The project aims to enhance Mexico's international economic positioning by strengthening the capabilities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE). It focuses on economic diplomacy, investment attraction, trade promotion, and strategic stakeholder engagement.
Job Purpose
The purpose of this role is to advise and coordinate the implementation of trade promotion strategies aligned with Mexico's economic priorities and international diplomacy efforts. This involves fostering connections with Mexican Representations abroad to identify and advance commercial and supply chain opportunities in strategic markets. The role also entails managing participation in international trade fairs, seminars, business encounters, and trade missions to promote key sectors and generate business opportunities for Mexican companies. Additionally, it requires coordinating with federal, state, and municipal government bodies, as well as private sector organizations, to strengthen trade promotion initiatives and support Mexico's international economic agenda.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include advising on and coordinating the implementation of trade promotion strategies within the framework of economic diplomacy and national priorities. This involves liaising with Mexican Representations abroad to identify, promote, and track commercial and supply chain opportunities in strategic markets. The role requires managing Mexico's participation in international fairs, sector seminars, business meetings, and trade missions, focusing on positioning priority sectors and creating business opportunities for Mexican companies. Furthermore, it involves coordinating dialogue with federal, state, and municipal government agencies, as well as business organizations, chambers, and strategic actors to bolster trade promotion projects. The position also entails monitoring priority government projects related to foreign trade, value chains, and business linkages, and supporting participation in high-level meetings and strategic events related to Mexico's international trade promotion agenda.
Work Experience
Candidates with a high school diploma require at least 6 years of experience in foreign trade, public/private sector liaison, event management, or related areas. Candidates with a university degree (Licenciatura) require 3 years of experience in these fields. Experience in inter-institutional coordination, international economics, private sector development, foreign trade, diplomacy, or with public administration/international organizations is desirable.
Skills
Effective communication (oral and written), project planning and management, team and time management. Desired skills include inter-institutional coordination, international economics, private sector development, foreign trade, diplomacy, and experience with public administration or international organizations. Intermediate English proficiency is required.
